| Excel Test Skills: Mathematics for Competitions Years 4-5 is part of a two book series which provides an accessible and enjoyable means of developing students’ mathematical abilities. Students who wish to do well in inter-school mathematics competitions need to practise. It covers the skills examined by the inter-school competitions and provides lots of exercises and trial tests.
Each book has been specifically designed to help students prepare for inter-school mathematics competitions. This book will help primary school students prepare for the annual mathematics competitions to be conducted in all states of Australia in June-July of each year.
Each chapter deals with a particular topic and is composed of six sections: - Revise and Check: a brief summary of the basic skills required to proceed. This ensures that the student has the necessary background knowledge. - Examples: a number of relevant examples. - Explanations: fully-worked solutions to the examples with explanations. - Exercises: a graded series of exercises progressing from classroom standard to interschool competition standard. - Trial Tests: four tests of general ability in the subject. These are of inter-school competition standard. They provide valuable opportunities for the student to exercise their problem-solving abilities. - Answers: fully-worked solutions to all exercises and the tests. |
