| The Excel Basic Skills: Australian Society and Environment Year 3 is the first in a series of four books which provide students with a structured approach to learning about Society and Environment. Each book covers historical and contemporary topics to give students a broad understanding of history and culture.
The series has been designed to help students in every Australian State. All the content chosen is applicable to primary school Society and Environment, SOSE or HSIE syllabuses in all States. The series consists of four workbooks - one for each year level from Years 3-6. In each book, students will learn about each of the following four strands in the study of Society and Environment:
- Change: past events, causes and effects of change, contributions of individuals and groups - Culture: the significance of cultural change; the importance of cultural identity and diversity - Environment: major geographical features; the relationships between humans and their environment; local community development - Systems and Structures: interaction between consumers and suppliers; advances in transport, communication, government, money systems; technological change.
