Which subjects are affected by the Year 11 syllabus changes?
The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) has implemented syllabus changes to a number of Year 11 courses including Mathematics, English, Science & History.
When will the new syllabuses be effective?
The new syllabuses for Year 11 Sciences and Standard Mathematics will be effective for NSW students commencing Year 11 in January/February 2018. The implementation of syllabus updates for Advanced and Extension Mathematics courses has been delayed for a year so these won’t come into effect until January/February 2019.

PRELIMINARY MATHEMATICS: SYLLABUS CHANGE EFFECTIVE FROM 2019
- The syllabus update for Mathematics—to be called Year 11 Advanced Mathematics from 2019—has been delayed for a year.
- Students undertaking Year 11 in 2018 can use the existing Excel editions for Preliminary Mathematics.
