GUIDE TO NSW YEAR 12 SYLLABUS CHANGES

As you may know, NSW students commencing Year 12 in Term 4 2018 will be subject to syllabus changes across certain subjects. Although this may sound particularly daunting for the first cohort of students undertaking the new HSC, we at Pascal Press are here to help guide students, parents and teachers through the changes. Which subjects are affected by the Year 12 syllabus changes?

The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) has implemented syllabus changes to a number of Year 12 courses including Mathematics, English, Sciences and History.

When will the new syllabuses be effective?

The new syllabuses for Year 12 Standard English, Advanced English, Standard Mathematics 1 and 2, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Modern History and Ancient History will be effective for NSW students commencing Year 12 in October 2018. The implementation of syllabus updates for the Year 12 Advanced Mathematics (previously Mathematics), Year 12 Mathematics Extension 1 and Year 12 Mathematics Extension 2 courses have been delayed for a year; therefore, these won’t come into effect until October 2019.
